"Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in milk."

So, let's see if I get this right:

Tuesday, the Administration's biggest apologist in the Senate loses his primary.

Wednesday, Cheney says something along the lines of, "Boy, I hope nothing happens with Al-Qaeda, since the Democrats are so weak on terror."

Thursday, after a claimed year of surveillance, they just happen to bust up this airplane terror thing, and just happen to drive the big fat loser Lieberman off the front pages.

And it means any response gets tossed into the Friday news cycle, and thus, "in the trash" as the political boys say.

In the middle of all this, Karl Rove calls Joe Lieberman and promises Dubya's "full support" should Lieberman run as an independent.

Hmmmm.... All a coincidence, I'm sure.

To the untrained eye, this might look suspicious as hell. It's a good thing this Administration has such a sterling track record of never putting petty political score settling on a hotter burner than national security.

Just ask Valerie Plame.
